The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself. - Anna Quindlen.
I just love my job!! Im sorry I just cant say it enough. I get to meet the most interesting, hard working, compassionate, and inspiring people. Every once in a while I meet someone and I just can tell from the energy and people that surround them that they are good people!! Last week I booked a session for a “fitness shoot” This was my first time shooting this type of portrait session but I said hey, I’m gonna make this awesome! I had never met Jasmin but I just wanted to do something unique and special for her fitness portfolio.
I thought about doing her photos at the gym, but then I thought, no I want her to be outside in an Industrial style setting with graffiti. I got the idea from the amazing photographer Rob Hammer We ended up shooting at Bad Canstatt , at the "Hall of fame" graffiti wall. The light was amazing and the shoot could not have turned out better!! I wanted to share Jasmin’s story with you. Be inspired by this strong and amazing woman! Hard work really and truly does pay off.
Introducing Jasmin Ramirez
"I have been an athlete most of my life, playing basketball, volleyball, running track, etc. My Dad was always remained an avid weight-lifter as a former bodybuilder and Mr. Yolo Country winner. I lifted at a young age with my Dad, but it wasn’t until January of 2011 when I found my true passion for fitness. My husband and I attended our friend’s bodybuilding show here in Stuttgart, Germany. I mentioned that I would love to compete, but I just didn’t think I had the discipline. By February, 2011, my husband and I made a commitment to compete in the May 2011, Ramstein Bodybuilding Invitational. Our friend, Nicole Walend, coached us along the 16 weeks of rigorous training and strict dieting.
I won first place in the Figure Tall Division and my husband, Greg, won second in the lightweight bodybuilding division. After this show I was hooked! I transitioned into an off-season building phase and flew to California to train with my Dad for another show. I trained for 14 weeks and won the Western USA Championships in Sacramento, CA, taking first in the Novice Tall Division and Overall Women’s Figure. While earning a trophy for best symmetry.
I am just days away from my third show and I am eager to step on the stage again. The International Natural Bodybuilding Association will host the World Championships in Karvoly Vary and I am entering the Fitness Figure Division. I am not worried about placing because I am only really in competition with myself. I compete to transform my body and really understand and learn how my body reacts to proper diet and exercise.
My husband and I have been in Germany for a little over two years. We are natives of California, so we look forward to the PCS move to San Diego in November. I hope to continue to compete in the states and hopefully inspire others to either maintain or begin a healthy lifestyle. Bodybuilding requires year-round training, so I have made a commitment to live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy the journey along the way. If I can do it, anyone can!!!”
Jasmin represented the USA on Sat June 30th in The Czech Republic and placed first in the World in the fitness model category!! Congratulations Jasmin!!
